After running into trademark issues, the newly merged Central Valley School District now has a new logo.
The newly merged Central Valley School District now has a new logo.
Students in fourth grade through 11th grade voted for a navy blue and light blue logo last spring after choosing "Thunder" as the school mascot. But the district later learned the design they had picked was trademarked.
On the advice of its attorney, the district then invited its students and art students from Mohawk Valley Community College to submit designs for a new logo, a news release stated.
The winning design was submitted by MVCC student Micaela Alteri.
“Our students overwhelmingly chose a logo that featured the words ‘Central Valley Thunder’ with lightning bolts and bold thunderhead clouds," Central Valley Academy Principal Renee Rudd said of the original design. "In the end, we chose the one (new logo) that embraced the spirit of that design.”
