  • Another nursing home in Herkimer County is on the state Attorney General Office’s radar.
Attorney General Media Coordinator Liz DeBold recently confirmed the office participated in a search warrant issued the week of July 15 for Mohawk Valley Health Care Center in Ilion.
DeBold would not comment further on what the search warrant was for, or if an investigation is continuing into the state-registered 120-bed nursing home, and pointed to the Herkimer County court system for details.
“We don’t want to mess with any investigations,” she said.
Multiple calls to Herkimer County District Attorney Jeff Carpenter were not returned.
Health care center officials would not comment.
The state Department of Health website indicates the operator of the Sixth Avenue facility is MVNH Associates LLC out of Baldwin. Officials at that firm could not be reached.
About four months ago, state officials confirmed they were investigating Folts Homes in Herkimer for “financial irregularities.”
The Attorney General’s Office this week wouldn’t comment on the status of that investigation.
The probe came on the heels of Chief Executive Officer Ralph Reid and Chief Operating Officer Ernest Orts resigning due to “financial considerations” in October 2012 and the closure of the senior retirement community’s child care center prior to that in August. The facility also failed to make its payments in lieu of taxes last year.
