  • Frank P. Colonnese, Jr., 91, of Miami Beach, FL, passed away Sunday, March 31, 2013. He was a former resident of Little Falls.

  • Frank P. Colonnese, Jr., 91, of Miami Beach, FL, passed away Sunday, March 31, 2013. He was a former resident of Little Falls.
    He was born April 15, 1921, in Fairfield, CT, the son of Frank, Sr., and Carmela Colonnese. He graduated from Washington High School in Washington, CT, before being drafted into the Army for WW II in 1944. He served in the 137th Infantry, 35th Division in the European Theatre, including the Battles of Ardennes and the Bulge. He was captured by the Germans and held as a prisoner of war before being liberated by the English in 1945. He was honorably discharged as a Private First Class with a Bronze Star and Diplome from the Republique Francaise.
    Upon return home, he enrolled at Utica College at Syracuse University and graduated in 1951. He retired as Secretary-Treasurer from Little Falls Footwear in 1986. He wed Gloria Jean Allen in June 1953 in Oneida, NY, who predeceased him in 2003.
    Surviving their father are Kyle (Regina), Mark (Karen), Timothy (Paige), Christopher (Ellen), Claire (Robert) and Catherine (Roberto). He was the grandfather of eleven and great-grandfather of two.
    A Mass will be held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Miami Beach on April 3rd at 11 a.m. to celebrate his life.  He will be interred at a later date at Arlington Cemetery in Washington, DC.
