  • Joelene G. George, 55, of McCready Road, Mohawk, passed away unexpectedly Friday, Feb. 1, 2013 at her residence. She has been in ill health for the past several years with Primary Lateral Sclerosis.

  • Joelene G. George, 55, of McCready Road, Mohawk, passed away unexpectedly Friday, Feb. 1, 2013 at her residence. She has been in ill health for the past several years with Primary Lateral Sclerosis.
    She was born on Nov. 29, 1957, in Herkimer, the daughter of the late Francis L. and Daisy M. (Larkin) Young. She attended Herkimer High School.
    Joelene was united in marriage to her husband of 30 years, Ronald M. George, on June 27, 1982, in Saranac Lake.
    She was an avid gardener who enjoyed tending to her large vegetable and flower gardens. Liking to keep herself busy she also enjoyed many arts and craft projects and crocheting. For a short time she was a volunteer at the Herkimer County Humane Society.
    Joelene was employed for several years by the former LaSalle Laboratories, Little Falls.
    She is survived by her husband, Ronald; her daughters, Hope Ouderkirk and her husband, Roger, of Mohawk, and Kim Brand and her husband, Robert, of Little Falls; five brothers, Duane “Cy” Young (Barbara), of Little Falls, Jack Young (Jeanette), of Ilion, Darrel “Jim” Young (Patty), of Little Falls, Neal Young, of Herkimer, and Francis “Patrick” Young, of Mohawk; eight sisters, Phyllis Moffatt (Erney), of the town of Ohio, Sharon Camardello (Angelo), of Florida, Dale McCaw (Walt), of Mohawk, Jill Young, of Herkimer, Dawn Kucerak (Milan), of Herkimer, Darlene Reynolds, of Herkimer, Terry Kondratowicz, of Mohawk, and Ronnie Dauback (Frank), of Herkimer; her beloved grandchildren, Madison, Abigail and Olivia Brand and Dillan Ouderkirk; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters, Sherry Lynch and Cherese Young.
    Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013, at 11 a.m. from Holy Family Parish Church, corner of Main and John streets, Little Falls, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Thomas Lawless. Interment will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery, tTown of Herkimer, at the convenience of the family.
    Arrangements are by Chapman-Moser Funeral Home, Inc., 42 N. Ann St., Little Falls.
    The family will gather privately prior to the funeral services, there are no public calling hours.
