  • Mr. Dominick Riolo, 86, of 30 N. Helmer Ave., Dolgeville, died Monday, May 14, 2012, in Basset Hospital, Cooperstown, after a brief illness.

  • Mr. Dominick Riolo, 86, of 30 N. Helmer Ave., Dolgeville, died Monday, May 14, 2012, in Basset Hospital, Cooperstown, after a brief illness.
    Dom was born in Brooklyn on May 15, 1925, the son of the late Spledonia and Poalina (Incovina) Riolo, and was educated in Brooklyn schools.
    A veteran of World War II, he served honorably in the United States Navy from Aug. 3, 1943, until March 30, 1946. He was awarded the American Theater Medal, the Victory Medal and the European Theater Medal for his service to our country.
    His marriage to Mary Higgins took place on Feb. 17, 1977, in Yonkers, New York. The couple moved to Dolgeville in 1987.
    Dom was employed in Brooklyn as an importer and exporter for Christies and also continued this business when he moved to this area.
    Dom was of the Catholic faith and was interested in arts and crafts and also enjoyed a "Good Cigar."
    He is survived by his wife, Mary; his children; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews.
    A funeral mass was held at Resurrection Catholic Church in Brooklyn.
