  • Herkimer police have released details surrounding a public lewdness arrest earlier in the week.
Terry G. Prescott, 29, of Utica, was charged with public lewdness, a class B misdemeanor.
He was also arrested on three counts of endangering the welfare of a child and one count of second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, both class A misdemeanors.
Police said they received a 911 call at 8 p.m. on July 2 that three 13-year-old girls were being followed for several blocks by a man driving a black sports utility vehicle. Prescott allegedly pulled alongside them and raised his lower body exposing himself above the door window, said police. He then allegedly asked the girls their ages, said police.
Police said the girls were “frightened” and walked to the nearby Kmart store for help. Prescott continued to follow them, said police, until he entered the parking lot. The girls then went inside and an employee called 911, said police.
Police said they began an immediate search for the suspect and soon located Prescott at a nearby gas station. He was detained and soon identified as the suspect, said police.
Prescott was arraigned in Herkimer Village Court and was remanded to the Herkimer County jail in lieu of $2,000 cash bail and $5,000 bail bond, said police.
