  • Show off your DIY fashion skills with a collage pendant necklace. They are simple to make and the results are perfect every time. The best part is that there are no rules to this project, so all you need to do is dig in and get creative.
You will want to begin with paper selection. Use anything from scrapbook paper to old wrapping paper. Junk mail, magazines and old greeting cards are also good sources for images and words. If you need to make a favorite image or paper pattern smaller, just take the paper clippings to a copy shop or scan and shrink on your computer.
Next, gather charms and rhinestones to embed in your design. Make sure they are small enough to fit on the top of the Podgeable charm.
You will also need stringing material. You can use leather cording, ribbon, chain or ball chain. Or you can attach a pendant to a necklace you already own.
Once you have gathered all your collage materials, you will be ready to get designing.
    What you will need:
         Podgeable clear pendant shape
         Collage papers
         Scissors
         Mod Podge gloss
         Foam paintbrush
         Craft glue
         Small charms and rhinestones
         Mod Podge dimensional magic
         Chain
         Jump-rings
         Jewelry-making pliers
         Necklace clasp
Cut a background paper to fit the top of the clear acrylic Podgeable shape. Next, cut smaller images to layer on top of the background paper. Apply a coat of Mod Podge gloss to the Podgeable shape and to the back of the background paper. Position the background paper onto the shape and press with your fingers to smooth any air bubbles. Allow to dry for 15 minutes. Apply Mod Podge gloss to the back of the smaller cut pieces and layer them on top of the background paper. Top-coat with a layer of Mod Podge and allow to dry for 15 minutes.
Using craft glue, attach charms and rhinestones to the dried design. Allow to dry thoroughly.
Top-coat the collaged Podgeable shape with a layer of Dimensional Magic. This will give it a hard, glassy finish. Allow to dry in a non-drafty place for six hours.
Attach a clasp to the end of a necklace chain. Attach a jump-ring through the hole on the Podgeable pendant, then attach to the center of the chain.
