  • No current or former Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs were chosen in the early rounds of the draft Thursday and Friday but a pair of players with ties to the team were.
The Atlanta Braves selected Texas A&M infielder Mikey Reynolds 163rd overall in the fifth round and the Arizona Diamondbacks picked Colin Bray in the sixth round with the 180th selection.
Reynolds never made it to Little Falls but was on the initial roster for the first Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League season in 2011. Reynolds played at Arizona’s Paradise Valley Community College before transferring to Texas A&M and was set to spend the summer with Paradise Valley coach Troy Gerlach and the DiamondDawgs before he was picked by the Baltimore Orioles in 2011. Reynolds and the Orioles did not agree on a contract but Reynolds passed on spending the season in New York.
Bray’s brother, Tyler, is a pitcher at the University of Louisiana-Monroe and is on the Mohawk Valley roster for 2013. Colin Bray, an outfielder, was drafted out of Faulkner State Community College after transferring from the University of South Alabama. The Bray brothers’ father, Scott Bray, also played at South Alabama and pitched for two seasons in the Montreal Expos’ farm system.
