  • Fire destroyed a home at 168 Bidleman Rd. in the town of Manheim late Monday night.
Little Falls Fire Captain Dennis Harrigan said the call came in from a motorist passing by the residence at 11:08 p.m. that there was a fire at the home.
“It was fully involved upon arrival,” said Harrigan.
Some of the problems firefighters had in battling the blaze was the lack of water since there were no hydrants there. “We had tankers come in from East Herkimer and St. Johnsville,” said Harrigan.
He said it took between an hour and an hour and a half to bring the fire under control.
Harrigan also said no one was home at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported.
No one was at the home Tuesday morning when a reporter visited the residence. Debris from the fire laid scattered in the yard. The fire appeared to have started in one end of the one-story home, which was completely leveled by the fire. Parts of the blue siding of the home was damaged and singed from the flames.
Harrigan said a cause had not been determined as of Tuesday afternoon, and that state police were investigating it.
