  • The German Flatts Town Council last week passed a resolution regarding the state’s retirement system’s standard work day and reporting procedures.
Town Clerk Marie Hennings said all of the council members present voted in favor of it.
“Everybody has to do it,” she said, noting this includes municipalities and schools.
“It’s procedure for following the state retirement papers,” said town Supervisor Frank Spatto.
According to state Office of the Comptroller’s website, the “resolution must be adopted at the first regular meeting held after the first 180 days of a new term, or whenever a new elected or appointed office is established. The secretary or clerk of the governing board must publicly post the resolution for at least 30 days after adoption.”
It also states the time limit for filing the resolution is within “within 45 days of adoption.”
The resolution, according to the website, must be posted “on the employer’s public website for at least 30 days. If a website isn’t available to the public, it can be posted on the official sign-board at the main entrance to the clerk’s office.”
Changes from the previous resolution that boards needed to adopt include that the legislative body “passes standard work day and reporting resolution which: cites the expiration date of each term/appointment; attests that the time record has been received; and specifies how many days will be reported for each official (based on log).”
