  • The Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville Central School District Board of Education will interview current St. Johnsville Superintendent Laura Campione Lawrence for the superintendent’s position of the newly merged district.
According to Hamilton-Fulton-Montgomery BOCES District Superintendent Dr. Patrick Michel, the board will interview Campione Lawrence on Tuesday.
“Based on Tuesday’s interview the board will decide what step to take next in the selection process,” Michel said in a news release. “The hiring of its first superintendent is the most important decision the board will make for the new district and the board is taking care to ensure it makes the right decision.”
Michel announced the superintendent’s interview at the OESJ board meeting on May 1.
The interview will take place in a closed-door executive session.
Also Wednesday, the board established the Oppenheim building, which next year will house one of the district’s two elementary schools and the district-wide middle school, as the site of the OESJ district and business office. The selection of the Oppenheim-Ephratah building for the district office was recommended in the Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville merger study.
Based on the location of the district office, the board also selected the Fulton County Personnel Department to provide Civil Service employment services for the new district.
In other business, the board made three OESJ appointments, including Steve Trodler as the district technology coordinator, John LiBritz as the district computer coordinator and Bruce LaQuay as the district transportation supervisor.
The OESJ board next meets Monday in Oppenheim.
