Excavators continued the demolition of Shoppers Square in Little Falls on May 1 as part of a project that will include the construction of a 30,500 square foot Price Chopper supermarket in the city center.
The modern grocery store will be built on the western end of the site, the location of the former Big M, while the eastern end will undergo renovations.
Outside of Big M, which did not have its lease renewed and closed its doors for a final time in late December 2012, building tenants were given the opportunity to relocate in Shoppers Square while work on the $6,459,149 project takes place.
The project is expected to create 20 full-time and 90 part-time jobs.
City officials have said the renovations and new construction will result in substantial benefits for residents and will make the city center a focal point of the community.
Officials have also said the project is on schedule to be finished in late fall.
