  • Ann O’Hara Merrick, a native of Little Falls, passed away at Salem Hospital in Salem, MA on April 25 after a brief illness.

  • Ann O’Hara Merrick, a native of Little Falls, passed away at Salem Hospital in Salem, MA on April 25 after a brief illness.
    She was born in Little Falls on February 2, 1942 to the late Frank and Julia (Keefe) O'Hara. She attended St. Mary’s Academy then graduated from the Nathan Littauer Hospital School of Nursing in Gloversville in 1962. After obtaining her R.N. Ann moved to Boston MA and worked as an operating room nurse at Floating Hospital for Children. She later was employed as a head nurse at the Gaebler Children’s Unit at Metropolitan State Hospital in Waltham and at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.
    Ann was married in 1966 at St. Mary’s Church in Little Falls and raised two children in Newton and Lexington, MA. During that time she worked part-time as a nursing supervisor at Chetwynde Nursing Home in Newton, MA and was an active volunteer at a local center for the treatment of Cerebral Palsy.  At the time of her death she was retired in Lynn, MA.
    Ann is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer Merrick and Joseph Abate of Walpole, MA; her son and daughter-in-law, Brian O. and Sandra Merrick and her grandson, Michael Merrick, all of Quincy, MA. She is also survived by her former husband, Judge Brian R. Merrick of West Barnstable, MA; and was predeceased by her brother, James O’Hara of Little Falls. She leaves many O’Hara cousins in the Little Falls area.
