The three percent July sales tax distribution in Herkimer County totaled $4,994,264.09, an increase of $219,237.53 from the July 2011 distribution.
The total distribution to the 19 towns was $61,249.50 more than a year ago, with the 10 villages receiving $11,822.67 more, the city of Little Falls receiving an additional $9,712.22 in sales tax revenue and the county receiving $135,453.44 more in sales tax for the quarter than in 2011.
Herkimer County Administrator James Wallace said during a telephone interview on Thursday that for the first two quarters of the year, the county is roughly $470,000 above its projections.
“That is certainly welcome news,” said Wallace. “The figures are about one percent higher than our projections, which is encouraging for the remainder of the year. It’s a good position to be in.”
Distribution to the municipalities to the nearest dollar for the quarter is as follows:
•Little Falls: $221,245.90
•German Flatts: $67,578.02
•Little Falls: $37,243.41
Total town distribution: $1,225,537.93
•Cold Brook: $3,564.67
•West Winfield: $13,293.92
Total village distribution: $439,050.29
The total second quarter distribution to the county was $3,108,429.97.
The distribution included $250,000 for a highway reserve fund.
The one percent withheld for Medicaid totaled $1,663,7615.20 for the quarter, $75,672.73 more than the amount withheld for the county’s Medicaid costs in the July 2011 disbursement.
The quarter percent withheld for the construction of a new county correctional facility totaled $415,903.79 for the quarter, $18,918.17 more than the amount withheld in July 2011.
