  • The Herkimer County Industrial Development Agency conducted a board of directors meeting last Thursday.
During the meeting the agency considered an inducement resolution for the Northern Safety project.
Northern Safety is a manufacturer and distributor of safety products at 232 Industrial Dr. in the West Frankfort Business Park.
IDA Executive Director Mark Feane said Northern Safety is investing $1.2 million worth of customization, embroidery and printing equipment as well as upgrades to facility software and hardware.
The project could create up 75 new jobs, said Feane.
According to Feane, Northern Safety is also seeking sales tax exemption on items subject to sales tax as part of the $1.2 million investment.
“The IDA has preliminary authorized the project and the next step is to introduce the project to the board and the community,” Feane said.
The IDA is in the process of scheduling a public hearing to officially announce the project.
