  • St. Johnsville Superintendent Laura Campione-Lawrence is available to Oppenheim-Ephratah residents who have questions about the proposed merger.
Anyone with questions about the proposed merger or the St. Johnsville district is welcome to phone her office at 518-568-7824.
“This referendum is extremely important to the education of our children. I encourage everyone to get the information they need to make an informed vote,” said Campione-Lawrence in a news release. “If anyone has questions, I’ll do anything I can to help.”
Oppenheim-Ephratah School Superintendent Dan Russom is also encouraging anyone with questions to contact his office at 518-568-2014.
Voters in the Oppenheim-Ephratah Central School District will go to the polls on Dec. 11 to reconsider a merger with the St. Johnsville Central School District.
The State Education Department announced the revote on the binding merger referendum on Nov. 19 in response to a petition submitted by Oppenheim-Ephratah residents.
St. Johnsville residents will not participate in the revote, as a majority of voters in the school district already approved the merger proposal last December.
If Oppenheim-Ephratah residents approve the merger on Dec. 11, the newly merged Oppenheim-Ephratah - St. Johnsville school district would begin operation on July 1, 2013.
Information concerning the merger, including newsletters and the original merger study, is available on the Oppenheim-Ephratah website at www.oecs.k12.ny.us.
Paper copies of the merger study are also available at the Oppenheim-Ephratah district office.
Polls for the revote will be open from noon to 8 p.m. at the school.
