The third annual Turkey Trot will take place in the village of Mohawk on Nov. 3.
Hosted by the Fisher Elementary School Parent - Teacher Organization, the run will begin in front of Jarvis Junior-Senior High School on Grove Street. PTO member Jen Mower said in an email children ages 4 to 12 will be able to participate in three separate free fun runs — a quarter mile run for children ages 4 to 6, a half mile run for children ages 7 to 9 and a one mile run for children ages 10 to 12 — while anyone 13 years of age and older will be welcome to take part in the 5K run or two mile walk. Registration for the 5K run and two mile walk will be $20; $15 for students.
“Be a pilgrim running through the village, burn those holiday calories now so you can enjoy your meal or take a break from your Christmas shopping, you won’t be sorry you did,” said Mower.
Prizes will be by age group for the 5K and will include 20 pound frozen turkeys and golden turkeys.
Special awards will also be presented for best costume.
“Come run as a pilgrim, a turkey, a Mohican or anything you fancy. If you haven’t run in costume before, believe us when we say it will pump up your fun factor 100 percent,” said Mower. “Don’t do it alone, bring your friends and family and run in costume. It’s fun for the whole family.”
Mower said individuals can request a registration form by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or by going online to http://www.getentered.com/search/event.aspx?id=14919.
Registration and packet pick up will take place on Friday, Nov. 2, from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m., and on Saturday, Nov. 3, at 8 a.m. The quarter mile Turkey Trot will begin at 9 a.m. on Nov. 3, with the half mile Turkey Trot beginning at 9:15 a.m. and the one mile Turkey Trot taking place at 9:30 a.m. Children’s awards will be presented at 9:50 a.m. The 5K run will begin at 10 a.m. on Nov. 3 and the two mile walk begin at 10:05 a.m. The awards for the 5K will be presented at 10:50 a.m.
