    Top seed Little Falls got a four-hitter from Tyler Baumeister Wednesday and defeated Dolgeville 10-0 in the Mohawk Valley Babe Ruth League’s “A” Division championship game at Veterans Memorial Park.

    Top seed Little Falls got a four-hitter from Tyler Baumeister Wednesday and defeated Dolgeville 10-0 in the Mohawk Valley Babe Ruth League’s “A” Division championship game at Veterans Memorial Park.
    Baumeister walked one batter, hit another and struck out seven in six innings. He also singled, doubled, drove in a run and scored twice as the team’s cleanup hitter.
    After Johann Doerrer set Little Falls down in order in the first inning, Baumeister started the second with a double and the helped his team open a 3-0 lead. Jon Willman’s two-out triple brought home the game’s first run. Doerrer hit Andy Mucica with a pitch and two more runs scored on a Michael Luppino single.
    Little Falls added two runs in the third inning and three in the fifth. One run came home on a ground out in the sixth inning and Baumeister scored on a wild pitch to put the 10-run rule in effect and end the game.
    Dolgeville had its leadoff batter reach base twice in the first three innings and left five runners on base in that stretch. Baumeister retired 12 of the final 13 Dolgeville batters, including seven in a row after Josh Gross singled with two outs in the fourth inning.
    Reid Johnson’s  one-out single and a walk put Dolgeville runners at first and second in the first inning. Dakota Walrath started the second with a single and was left at first base. Baumeister hit Matt Holt leading off the third and Johnson followed with a single; Baumeister got out of the inning with two strikeouts and a pop fly to first baseman to Theo Wind.
    After working out of the jam in the top of the third inning, Wind led off the bottom with a triple and scored on an error — the first of five — on Baumeister’s ground ball to shortstop. After a walk and an out at the plate, Willman added an RBI with his second hit of the game.
    Luppino added three runs batted in while Wind, Michael Izzo and Mucica all scored twice.
    Dolgeville had come from behind against Canajoharie earlier in the evening to earn its spot in the championship game. Trailing 5-1, Dolgeville rallied to win 12-7.
    The “B” Division semifinals and final will be played Thursday in Little Falls. Top seed Fort Plain meets Frankfort in one semifinal and Herkimer takes on Poland in the other. The semifinals will be played at 5:30 p.m. on the stadium field and the Babe Ruth field. The championship game is slated for a 7:30 p.m. start.
