    Josh Anderson homered and drove in three runs for Glens Falls Thursday and the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League’s East Division-leading Golden Eagles defeated the Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs 5-1 at East Field.

    Josh Anderson homered and drove in three runs for Glens Falls Thursday and the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League’s East Division-leading Golden Eagles defeated the Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs 5-1 at East Field.
    Anderson’s two-run home run gave the Golden Eagles a 2-0 lead in the first inning as they won for the ninth time in 10 games improved their mark to 5-0 against Mohawk Valley. Anderson added an RBI-single in the eighth inning to cap the scoring.
    Siena College right-hander Rick Morales went five inning and won for the first time in four decisions. Morales allowed one run on three hits. Armand Rugel walked one batter in three scoreless innings of relief and Matt Eckelman pitched the ninth to record his second save.
    Mohawk Valley scored its lone run in the top of the fourth inning. Dalton Herrington doubled with two outs and scored on a single by Landon Thibodeaux.
    Leading 2-1, Glens Falls answered with two more runs in the bottom of the fourth. Michael DeCarlo walked Buddy Putnam with the bases loaded and the Golden Eagles added a run when Braxton Martinez grounded out.
    Herrington had two doubles among the DiamondDawgs’ four hits. Taylor Wright allowed one run on two hits in 4 1/3 innings of relief.
    Putnam had two doubles for Glens Falls. Anderson, who hit nine home runs for the 2011 Golden Eagles, has three in 10 games since rejoining the team this summer; his 12th home run broke a tie with Amsterdam Mohawk Ed Charlton for the third-year PGCBL’s career record.
    The DiamondDawgs are home Friday for a game against Cooperstown which was swept in a doubleheader Thursday and has lost seven games in a row.
