  • Another home date on the schedule resulted in another day off for the Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs.
Tuesday’s game against the Utica Brewers was postponed in the afternoon because of unplayable field conditions at Veterans Memorial Park. The postponement was the sixth for the DiamondDawgs in their first 13 home dates of the 2013 season; Sunday’s game was played after an hour-long delay and stopped after 5 1/2 innings.
A wet summer has repeatedly disrupted the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League schedule. Tuesday was the 27th date with league games on the schedule; 16 of those dates have had at least one cancellation.
The Glens Falls Golden Eagles and Amsterdam Mohawks were also postponed early Tuesday, bringing to 42 the total number of games that have been postponed, canceled or suspended this summer.
The DiamondDawgs, who have also been rained out twice on the road, will attempt to make up one of their earlier postponements as part of a doubleheader at home Wednesday against the Adirondack Trail Blazers. The first pitch is scheduled for 5:05 p.m. with fireworks following the second game.
No date was set to make up the Tuesday’s game. Utica makes its final scheduled visit to Little Falls July 10.
