Ilion Post 920 needed 14 innings to record a win over Love Post 406 at Diss Memorial Field Friday, tying the game twice before securing a 7-6 victory.
Ilion Post trailed in the game in the seventh and eighth innings but mustered enough runs to keep the game alive. Love Post had a 4-2 lead when Ilion Post came up to bat in the seventh inning. Ilion Post catcher Justin Kiesow started a two-out rally with a base hit to right field. Joe DeSarro and Ryan Fahy followed with back-to-back RBI-doubles to send the game to extra innings.
Ilion Post trailed again in the eighth after Love Post put up two runs to take a 6-4 lead in its half of the inning. Ilion Post starter Dan Colburn, who moved to the outfield after the sixth inning, ripped a two-run single to  left field to tie the game again.
Colburn’s heroics came after he held up his half of the game’s initial pitching duel with Love Post starter Jared Petrie. Colburn struck out eight batters and did not allow an earned run.
Colburn and Petrie each gave way to relievers as the game entered extra innings. Ilion Post’s Brian Maine pitched seven innings for Post 920, allowing one run in the seventh and two in the eighth before settling in and pitching five scoreless frames to give Ilion Post a chance at the win.
After trading runs in the eighth, the teams played five more scoreless innings before Tim Nicolette singled in the 14th inning and drove Travis Murray home with the winning run for Ilion Post.
Ilion Post will play at home again on Monday against Little Falls Post 31.
