  • An old-fashioned Christmas street celebration will return to the city of Little Falls on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 7 and 8, offering dozens of free events in a family-friendly environment.
Mayor Robert Peters said Christmas in Little Falls is the perfect way to get in the holiday spirit.
“Shopping, dining, an indoor farmers’ market and craft fair, it’s an event that offers a lot for people to see and do,” he said. “I invite everyone to join our community and enjoy the celebration.”
Now in its fifth year, Christmas in Little Falls is a family-oriented holiday celebration sponsored by the businesses and not-for-profit agencies that serve the city of Little Falls.
The mostly free events have drawn hundreds of visitors from throughout the Mohawk Valley to visit with Santa, sing carols, watch holiday movies, decorate cookies and enjoy horse and carriage rides.
“It’s a weekend of family fun for people all ages,” said Peters. “Christine Van Meter, the weekend’s chairperson, and all of the other volunteers work hard to put on a great event. I hope everyone makes Christmas in Little Falls a part of their holiday tradition and make this a holiday to remember.”
The schedule for Friday, Dec. 7, includes shopping at Canal Place and the Shops at 25 West, an “Other Side of the Tracks” happy hour from 4 to 6 p.m. at Piccolo Cafe and an open house at Paca Gardens from 5 to 8 p.m. The schedule for Saturday, Dec. 8, includes the Red Nose Reindeer 5K Fun Run at 9 a.m., the Victorian Promenade from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., visits with Santa Claus from 9 to 11 a.m., the third annual indoor farmers’ market and artisans’ fair from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., a Christmas cookie exchange from 10 a.m. to noon, the Twelve Days of Christmas Scavenger Hunt from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Soup Fest from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and free movie screenings at Valley Cinema.
“The city appreciates all the merchants and volunteers do to highlight the many positives we have right here in the city of Little Falls,” said Peters. “The Christmas in Little Falls event has grown every year and continues to bring people to our city so they can experience all Little Falls has to offer.”
