  • The Herkimer County Sheriff’s Office Welfare Fraud Unit recently arrested two individuals for various welfare fraud charges.
    • Cheri L. Grimshaw, 39, of Poland was charged with felony fourth-degree welfare fraud, felony fourth-degree grand larceny and felony offering a false instrument for filing, officials said.
    Grimshaw fraudulently received $1,188 worth of benefits over a period of time because of unreported income, officials said. She was processed and released with an appearance ticket returnable to Herkimer Village Court at later date.
    • Arthur W. Brower, 49 of Ilion, was charged with felony offering a false instrument for filing, officials said.
    Brower falsified information to the Department of Social Services upon filing for welfare benefits, officials said. He was processed and issued an appearance ticket returnable to Herkimer Village Court at a later date.
