  • Madaliene E. Carpenter, a resident of Spruce Lake, passed away on Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, at Mohawk Valley Nursing Home, Ilion, with her loving family by her side.

  • Madaliene E. Carpenter, a resident of Spruce Lake, passed away on Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, at Mohawk Valley Nursing Home, Ilion, with her loving family by her side.
    Madaliene was born on Aug. 3, 1932 in Schuyler, a daughter of the lat, Willard and Marjorie (Guyer) Randall. She was educated at West Canada Valley Central School.
    She was married to Robert D. Carpenter and shared a blessed union of 52 years. Mr. Carpenter passed away in October 2002.
    Madaliene was a dedicated employee of Daniel Green Shoe Factory in Dolgeville for 42 years and retired in 1997. She was of the Methodist faith. Madaliene was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother. She enjoyed crocheting, talking on the phone, crossword puzzles and a fondness for animals. Madaliene’s greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren, they were her life.
    She is survived by her loving children, Donald Carpenter and his wife, Dona, of Spruce Lake, Bruce Carpenter and his wife, Dawn, of Oppenheim, Keith Carpenter, of Dolgeville, Wayne Carpenter and his companion, Patricia Eckler, of Spruce Lake, James John Carpenter and his wife, April of Stratford, Vicki Carpenter and her companion Mike Brockhum, of Caroga Lake, Bambi Smith and her husband, Carl, of Johnstown; 18 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter; her brothers, Arleigh Randall, Harland Mowers, Jr., Gradin Mower, Arnold Mower, and Lloyd Mower; her sisters, Lovetta Rose, and twin sister, Madalyn Staring; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
    She was predeceased by a sister, Marjorie Wright.
    There will be no calling hours for Madaliene and in keeping with her wishes, a memorial service will take place at a time to be announced in Mountain View Memorial Gardens, where she will be placed with her husband, Robert. Arrangements are with Miller-Plonka Funeral Home, 30 Wolf St., Dolgeville.
    The Carpenter family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of the second floor at Mohawk Valley Nursing Home, Dr. Kachare for his compassion and care for Madaliene and also a special thank you to, her granddaughter, Alicia Carpenter for not leaving her side in her final days.
