  • Benefits replacement available for SNAP recipients affected by storms

  • Current Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program recipient households that lost food purchased during the recent storms are entitled to replacement.
    To report food loss from the storms on June 27 and 28, return a signed and completed Form LDSS-2291 or LDSS 2291A, request for replacement of food purchased by the benefits by Friday, July 19.
    Under SNAP regulations, it is always possible for individuals who lose food in a “household misfortune” to obtain replacement benefits if the household does the following things:
    *Reports the loss within 10 days of losing power by phone, in person or in writing.
    *Returns a signed and completed form within 10 days of the loss being reported.
    To find out if you’re eligible, contact your local SNAP/food stamp office by calling, writing or stopping by.
