A 17-year-old West Winfield resident faces a felony charge under Leandra's Law after a one-car crash Saturday morning, Oneida County sheriff's Deputy Toby Lindfield said.
At 1 a.m., emergency crews responded to the intersection of Mapledale and Hardscrabble roads, where they would find that Steven Holliday, 17, drove a pickup truck head-on into a bridge guide rail while he attempted to make a turn, deputies said.
Holliday and his passenger, a 15-year-old girl, suffered minor injuries, deputies said.
Holliday was found to have almost twice the legal limit of alcohol in his blood, and he was charged with felony DWI due to having a passenger younger than 16 in the vehicle, deputies said.
He also was accused of failing to stop at a stop sign, failure to reduce speed at an intersection, driving with a junior license after 9 p.m. and endangering the welfare of a child, deputies said.
He was arraigned in Bridgewater Town Court and was sent to Oneida County jail on $5,000 cash bail.
The Bridgewater Fire Department and Bridgewater Ambulance also responded to the scene.
