  • It has been a great week at the St. Johnsville Firemen’s Fair, and Fire Chief Jamie Carter could not be happier.
“The weather has been outstanding, and it looks like it’s going to hold straight through the weekend,” he said.
Thursday night saw fire vehicles from around the area converging on Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Park, as they marked Fire Apparatus and Demonstration Night. From tower trucks to rescue vehicles, rigs from the St. Johnsville, Rural Grove, Fort Plain, Canajoharie and Charleston volunteer fire departments, to name a few, were on hand, shining red vehicles reflecting the evening sunlight.
Each night at the fair has seen lines forming at the food booths as patrons wait for a chance to taste the many different flavors of summertime, including the famous clam chowder that people claim to wait all year for.
The fair will continue through today, with dinner served at 6 p.m. and the rides and games opening at 7 p.m.
A fireworks display later this evening will end this year’s event.
Proceeds from the fair will go towards making payments on several fire trucks that are part of the St. Johnsville fleet.
