    TROY-CATHOLIC CENTRAL 4, ST. JOHNSVILLE 1
ST. JOHNSVILLE, N.Y. — The St. Johnsville Saints stood up to a tough test Saturday and pleased their coach with their performance in  a 4-1 loss to the undefeated Crusaders of Troy’s Catholic Central.
Catholic Central, undefeated and ranked ninth in the state in Class B, scored twice before halftime and led 4-0 before allowing a late goal.
“You’re not going to get better if you don’t play up,” said coach Zale Benton whose Saints had a three-match winning streak snapped.
Benton praised the play of her defense against the speed and pressure applied by Catholic Central’s midfield and strikers. Goalie Leann Knapp made 22 saves and defenders Gabby DiPiazza, Hunter Jones and Mackenzie Ferguson worked hard against the Crusaders.
Alexis Riffelbach scored two goals for Catholic Central while Shanley Carpenter and Dawn Puckrose each had one. Goalie Katie Sullivan made five saves.
Skyler Viveros scored for the Saints.
