  • Mr. Roland Elwood Hall, Sr., age 83, went home to be with the Lord peacefully on Sunday afternoon, September 30, 2012, in the comfort of his home, following a brief battle with cancer.  At the time of his passing, he was in the presence of loved ones.

  • Mr. Roland Elwood Hall, Sr., age 83, went home to be with the Lord peacefully on Sunday afternoon, September 30, 2012, in the comfort of his home, following a brief battle with cancer.  At the time of his passing, he was in the presence of loved ones.
    Roland was born December 18, 1928, in Burlington Flats, NY, son of the late Lynn and Vivian (Sprague) Hall. He was united in marriage on December 11, 1946, to Beverly Jean (Corbielle). They had twelve children prior to her death in 1967. Roland met Donna L. Edick in 1972 and they were united in marriage on December 28, 1981. He loved and cherished Donna who helped raise "their" children. Mr. Hall was a WW II veteran, serving in the US Navy, and was recently a member of the New Hartford American Legion Post #1376.
    He enjoyed fishing, gardening and the outdoors. Roland was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather. "Dad", as he was fondly known by many, will be sadly missed.
    Survivors include his wife, Donna, and children, Betty (John) Wleizen, of Colorado, Susan (Rod) Usher, of Frankfort, JoAnn (Rick) Harding, of Lee Center, Roland Jr. (Linda), of Ilion, Ronald (Donna) Hall, of Little Falls, Debra Bennett, of Westmoreland, Mary Hall, of Syracuse, Richard Hall, of Newport, Tim Hall (Kevin), of Daytona, FL, Barbara (Bernard) Bass, of Herkimer, and  Donna's children, Sheri Clark, of Minnesota, Anthony Edick, of Minnesota, and Christine (Randy) Richards, of Fort Plain; daughter-in-law, Diana (Roger) Hall, of Herkimer; sisters, Cherry Tucker, of Ilion, and Vena (Peggy) Greene, of Herkimer; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Roland was predeceased by his sons, Robert Hall and Roger Hall.
    Relatives and friends are invited to visitation at the Enea Family Funeral Home, 220 N. Washington St., Herkimer, NY, on Wednesday, October 3, 2012, from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Mr. Hall's funeral will commence at 1 p.m., also on Wednesday, at the funeral home, with a procession following to Curtis Cemetery, Salisbury, where he will be laid to rest and military honors will be accorded.
    Arrangements are in the caring guidance of Ocoee Family Funeral & Cremation Chapel, 101 W. McKey St., Ocoee, FL, Daniel J. Enea, Director.
    The family would like to thank the Veterans Administration, Hospice & Palliative Care, and funeral director Daniel Enea for all of the care, compassion and assistance offered to Roland and his family during this difficult time.
