  • Ilion and Frankfort-Schuyler will not play their Class C East football game Friday.
The game was scheduled for 7 p.m. in Frankfort. Ilion football coach Jon Cole confirmed Thursday that his team had forfeited the game, but could not give a reason.
“It’s probably all I can say until parents are notified,” he said.
Cole said the decision was made at about 7:30 p.m. Thursday. He said at the moment it was a “one-game penalty” and hoped to have the team ready to play next week against Holland Patent. Ilion athletic director Bob McCann said he did not want to comment while he and other school officials dealt with the issue.
Frankfort-Schuyler coach and athletic director Jeff LaGase was too busy to discuss the problem.
“Right now I’m on the phone trying to get a game for our team,” he said.
Frankfort-Schuyler is 3-1 in the Class C East and 4-1 overall. Ilion is 2-3 overall and 1-3 in the league.
