  • Beverly B. Williams, age 94, of Main Road, passed away peacefully on Tuesday afternoon, September 25, 2012, in Folts Homes, Herkimer. She had the comfort of her cherished family at her side.
She was born on June 28, 1918, in Hartford, CT, daughter of the late Franklin and Margaret Streeter Butler. A lifelong area resident, she was a graduate of Ilion High School with the class of "1936". She was employed with the Government Pentagon in Washington, DC, Miami and then transferred to the Rome Air Force Base. While working in Washington, DC, she met Joseph C. Williams. On April 1, 1945, they were united in marriage. They shared a loving and devoted union of forty-one years until his passing on August 18, 1986. In 1965, she went to work as a Senior Service Assistant for the Prudential Insurance Company in Herkimer, retiring from the Utica Office in 1980.

She enjoyed golf, bowling, quilting, and dancing and was a member of the dance team for the Herkimer County Bi-Centennial Celebration. However, her family was her fondest enjoyment. Proud of their accomplishment and shared in their sorrows, she cherished the time spent with each of her nieces and nephews and their families. They in turn considered her their second mom. Beverly will be remembered for her zest for life, her smile and willingness to lend a helping hand to her neighbors, friends and family. She will be dearly missed.
Surviving are her thirteen devoted  nieces and nephews, Richard Butler and his wife, Patricia, of East Herkimer, Barbara Baker and her husband, Myron, of Rock Hill, SC, Gene Butler and his wife, Kim, of East Herkimer, Charlotte Brown Moffat, of Hobesound, FL, Beverly Brown Frank and her husband, William, of Newport, Cathy Brown Olsen, of Harlem, GA, Rebecca Brown Bunce and her husband, Randall, of Springbrook, PA, Joyce Smith, of Liverpool, Curtis Smith and his wife, Kathleen, of Sonoma, CA, Michael Smith, Gregory Smith and his wife, Karen, and Peggy Jo Smith, all of Liverpool, and June Ann Smith Walters and her husband, David, of Syracuse; many great-nieces and nephews, great-great-nieces and nephews, and one great-great-great-nephew. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Gurney Butler, in 2009; sister-in-law, Frances Butler, in 2003; two sisters, Elizabeth Smith, in 1995, and Violet Brown, in 2006; and one niece, Celeste Smith Davis.
