  • Few details are being released at this time about an unattended death that occurred at Herkimer County Community College over the weekend.
Herkimer Police Investigator Jeffrey Crim said during a telephone interview on Monday the department responded to a medical call between 8 and 9 p.m. on Saturday at Campus Meadows.
The student was transported to Little Falls Hospital’s emergency room, said Crimm.
Rebecca Ruffing, HCCC director of public relations, said on Monday students and employees who wish to speak to a counselor can call or stop by the college’s counseling center. Ruffing also said special counseling has also been arranged because of the student’s death.
Crim said Monday the police department is awaiting autopsy results. He did say the death is being considered as “not suspicious at this time.” Crim said it was a male student, but declined to release any further personal information about the student.
