  • Herkimer County Court announced on Thursday an individual was found guilty after a four-day jury trial.
Ewan Reid, 36, whose last known address was in the village of Herkimer, was found guilty of two counts of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance. The conviction stems from two incidents at America’s Best Hotel — on North Washington Street in Herkimer — on Jan. 14 and 16, 2011, where he sold crack cocaine out of room No. 17. He was indicted on April 29, 2011.
Reid is currently serving a state prison sentence for a prior conviction of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance in Oneida County. He will be sentenced on May 10 at 10 a.m. and will face a maximum sentence of 18 years on the current convictions.
The case was tried by Assistant Herkimer County District Attorney Jeffrey S. Carpenter.
“I want to commend the village of Herkimer Police Department, especially Investigator Jeffrey Crim and Captain Scott Scherer, for their outstanding work in this case,” said Carpenter in a news release.
