  • LaVerne L. Leskovar, 71, of Myrtle Beach Golf and Yacht Club, died Monday, May 7, 2012, at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center.

  • LaVerne L. Leskovar, 71, of Myrtle Beach Golf and Yacht Club, died Monday, May 7, 2012, at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center.
    Born in Little Falls he was the son of the late Louis and Edna Leskovar. Mr. Leskovar was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, serving in the Vietnam War. He received his master’s degree in special education and administration and was employed by the city of Little Falls where he worked as a special education teacher and later as the administrator of the special education program for the district. He coached girls’ basketball and was active in designing and constructing drama sets for Little Falls High School. He was also a co-founder of Profile Players, a community theater group. He was a member of Elks Club and VFW. In later years, Mr. Leskovar served as a Lutheran pastor and was a chaplain for Incare Hospice. He also served as the director of education at Lighthouse Care Center in Conway.
    Surviving are his wife, Joyce Leskovar; daughter, Kristin Leskovar-Blum; granddaughter, Paige Leskovar-Blum; honorary grandson, DJ Karshner, all of Myrtle Beach; and special cousins, Larry Eberle, of Amsterdam, and Janet Schneider, of Marietta, Ga.
    The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Beach Chapel.
    Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Beach Chapel.
