    Junior right-hander Lucas Godlewski struck out a career-high 17 batters Saturday night and the Little Falls Mounties defeated the Oriskany Redskins, the state’s second-ranked Class D team, 6-1 at Veterans Memorial Park.

    Junior right-hander Lucas Godlewski struck out a career-high 17 batters Saturday night and the Little Falls Mounties defeated the Oriskany Redskins, the state’s second-ranked Class D team, 6-1 at Veterans Memorial Park.
    Godlewski allowed two hits and walked two batters in Little Falls’ fourth consecutive victory. Austin Smith singled in the first inning and delivered a sacrifice fly in the sixth after Sam Martel delivered the Redskins’ second hit of the evening.
    Mike Stehnach went 3-for-3 with a walk, two runs batted in and two runs scored out of the second spot in the Little Falls lineup. He put the Mounties on the board first with an RBI-single in the first inning after Josh Martin had been hit by a pitch and stolen second base; Stehnach would score on a wild pitch.
    Martin had a sacrifice fly in the second inning. The bottom of the fourth started with a Jason Vespi walk and a Nick Luppino single. Stehnach delivered his second run-scoring hit of the game and the Mounties added runs when Theo Wind hit into a fielder’s choice and Tyler Baumeister delivered a sacrifice fly.
    Vespi also walked and scored in the second inning for the Mounties who had only five hits as a team.
    Little Falls plays on the road Monday at Canastota and takes on Dolgeville at home Tuesday.

    ORISKANY, N.Y. — Steve Rossi pitched five scoreless inning Saturday and the Oriskany Redskins defeated the Frankfort-Schuyler Maroon Knights 11-1 at home in the first half of a split doubleheader.
    The Redskins scored six runs in the fourth inning and five more in the fifth.
    Austin Smith and Trevor O’Bryan each had two hits for Oriskany and Noah Lupini had a two-run double. O’Bryan, Sam Martel and Cody Murphy scored two runs each.

    ST. JOHNSVILLE, N.Y. — Schoharie pitcher Craig Stalker scattered three hits and struck out eight batters Saturday in the Indians’ 8-0 shutout win over the St. Johnsville Saints.
    Schoharie scored all eight of the game’s runs in the top of the fourth inning when St. Johnsville committed five errors..
    Steve Brooks and Aaron Valvo had two hits each for Schoharie.
