    The Ilion Golden Bombers tuned up for Saturday’s Center State Conference championship meet with a 45-27 win at Rome Free Academy Thursday.

    The Ilion Golden Bombers tuned up for Saturday’s Center State Conference championship meet with a 45-27 win at Rome Free Academy Thursday.
    Ilion wrestlers won the first four contested bouts and six of 10 overall. Edward Moises scored an 11-7 decision against James Redpath in the first match of the evening at 138 pounds and Golden Bombers Bryan Bennett, Sean Jackson and Darren Lincourt followed with pins. Ilion added victories in the final two matches, decisions won by Andrew Burch and Laken Cook at 126 and 132 pounds, respectively.

    CANASTOTA 42, ADIRONDACK 31
    CANASTOTA, N.Y. — The Canastota Raiders claimed second place in Division I of the Center State Conference with Thursday’s 42-31 win against Adirondack.
    Each team entered the dual with one league loss and the win put Canastota in second place behind undefeated Camden.
    The Raiders won the first five matches Thursday and built a 24-0 lead from which the Wildcats could not come back, even with two forfeits in hand.
    Canastota defends its Center State Conference tournament championship tournament when the expanded league convenes Saturday in Whitesboro.
