    Allison Freiermuth and Kory Bunal combined to score 50 points for Holland Patent Wednesday and the Golden Knights were 62-47 winners over the Little Falls Mounties in a meeting of state-ranked squads.
    The win was the second for Holland Patent, ranked 22nd this week in Class B, over Little Falls, No. 6 in Class C, in nine days. Both teams were undefeated before their Jan. 15 game in Little Falls.
    Freiermuth had 30 points and nine rebounds to lead the Golden Knights (12-1) who lost for the first time this season against Notre Dame of Utica Saturday at the Juggler Classic. Bunal added 20 points and eight assists and freshman Alyssa Curtis had seven assists.
    Kelli Shepardson and Gen Schoff each scored 12 points for Little Falls (10-3) which lost for the third time in four games, all against Class B schools. Hannah Becker chipped in with 11 points.
    Holland Patent held a four-point lead at the start of the fourth quarter and outscored the Mounties 19-8 in the final period.
    Little Falls is home Saturday afternoon to complete the Kasner Klassic against New Hartford. Both teams have beaten Waterville in the round robin tournament which was disrupted by weather in December.

    ILION 46, CANASTOTA 39
    CANASTOTA, N.Y. — The Ilion Golden Bombers extended their winning streak to three games and won for the first time in league play Wednesday when they defeated the Canastota Raiders 46-39.
    The Golden Bombers (6-7, 1-4 CSC-I) have won three consecutive games for the second time this season. They started the season with three non-league wins before losing seven games in a row. Wednesday’s win was their first in Center State Conference Division I play and their first against a Class B opponent.
    Ilion outscored a Canastota (5-7, 2-3 CSC-I) 15-4 in the first quarter and maintained a five-point lead at halftime despite scoring only two points in the second quarter.
    Emily LaLonde led the Golden Bombers with 15 points while Nicole Doolen had 13 and Lauren Metz scored eight.
    Shea Foster scored 17 points to lead the Raiders.
    Ilion’s next game is Tuesday at Holland Patent.

    COOPERSTOWN 40, VERNON-VERONA-SHERRILL 25
    VERONA, N.Y. — Nicole Cring recorded a triple-double for Cooperstown Wednesday and the Redskins defeated the host school 40-25 in the consolation game for Vernon-Verona-Sherrill’s holiday tournament.
    Cring had 11 points with 10 rebounds and 10 steals for the Redskins (11-2) who lost for the first time this season against eventual champion Holland Patent in the tournament’s opening round in December. Liz Millea added 12 points Wednesday.
    Kaitlyn Reader led Vernon-Verona-Sherrill with seven points.
