Frankfort-Schuyler graduate Leo Nizzi had an assist on the winning goal Wednesday as the Hamilton College Continentals opened their season with a 2-1 victory at SUNY-Oswego.
Sophomore Griffin Abbott’s goal in the 74th minute proved to be the winner and came with the assist from Nizzi, a junior and son of Hamilton coach Perry Nizzi. Abbott received a pass from the younger Nizzi at the top of the box with less than 17 minutes left. Abbott pushed the ball right and took a shot across his body that found the lower left corner of the goal.
Oswego led 1-0 at halftime and Hamilton tied the score with an Anthony Balbo goal eight minutes into the second half.
Jim Manton scored for Oswego (1-2-0) 1:15 before halftime.
The Continentals play at home Saturday against Trinity College.
