The Herkimer County Hunger Coalition’s sixth annual benefit golf tournament will take place on Saturday, Sept. 29, at the Little Falls Municipal Golf Course.
This year’s tournament will be conducted in memory of Fallen Star Private First Class Theodore M. Glende, of Rochester, who was killed in action in Afghanistan on July 27.
The format will be a two-man scramble with a $60 entry fee per player.
The tournament will have two divisions — an open division and a senior division for golfers 62 years of age and older. Tee-off will be at 8 a.m. and 1 p.m., with lunch served. Beer and soda will be available, and pizza will be available prior to the start of the awards ceremony.
Prizes will include closest to the pin and lowest score in each division.
“As a unique feature, this will be a skins tournament with the pot generated by a $300 donation from one of our sponsors, $10 per team skins money and mulligan money,” said hunger coalition founder Ray Lenarcic, adding mulligans will be $5 per man with one mulligan per nine holes of golf to be used anywhere on the course. “The treasure will be divided between the open and senior divisions based on the number of golfers entered in the tournament.”
Door prizes will also be distributed. In addition, the putting contest winner will win a Crystal Chandelier limousine and dinner package donated by Rudy Scialdo, Jr.
Teams can register for the tournament by calling 866-7765 or by visiting the golf course.
“The proceeds from this year’s tournament will be used to purchase winter coats for deserving children attending Benton Hall Academy in Little Falls,” said Lenarcic.
Available sponsorships include a $500 gold sponsorship, a $250 silver sponsorship, a $100 bronze sponsorship and a $50 cart sign sponsorship. For more information, call 866-7765.
