Chad Eggleston is officially an active member of the St. Johnsville Board of Education after reciting the oath of office to fellow board members Monday night.
Eggleston said he is excited to begin his term on the board. “I’m looking forward to the opportunities that lie ahead,” he said, adding he has been teaching in the Canajoharie Central School District for 15 years. Currently he teaches third grade at East Hill Elementary School.
Eggleston said he was interested in becoming a board member because he lives in the village of St. Johnsville and has children that attend the school district. “I want to make sure the St. Johnsville school district is a good school for my children, as well as other students,” he said.
In other business during the organizational meeting, the board re-elected David Christopher Mosher as president and Patricia Christensen as vice president. Board member Renee Swartz was appointed to acting clerk for the board of education for the 2012 - 2013 school year. Board member Darren Bellen was appointed as deputy treasurer of the board of education for the upcoming school year, while Eggleston was appointed as the board’s legislative liaison for the 2012 - 2013 school year.
The board designated The Times as the district’s official newspaper for the upcoming school year.
Regular monthly board of education meetings will take place on the fourth Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. in the high school district office.
