Ghosts will haunt the stage of the latest performance by the Ilion Little Theatre Club.
“Ghost Story,” written by Marsha Grant and published in 2003, is a comedy split into two acts, but, according to its director, has some serious moments.
“It’s about a person trying to do the right thing,” said George Malavasic during an interview on Tuesday during a dress rehearsal for the play.
Eve, the main character, ends up “blowing the whistle” on some criminals and is placed into a house through the witness protection program with her daughter, Caro. The house, however, is haunted by four notorious ghosts — Ma Barker, Bonnie and Clyde and Edward Teach, AKA Blackbeard, the pirate.
“You learn that it’s not always easy to do the right thing and even bad people can redeem themselves,” said Malavasic, who has been directing for the past ten years.
The play will be performed at the newly air-conditioned theater called The Stables, located on Remington Avenue in Ilion. Performances are scheduled for Thursday, Friday and Saturday, July 12, 13 and 14, at 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday, July 20 and 21, at 8 p.m. and Sunday, July 22, at 2 p.m.
Tickets will be $12 at the door.
Two short performances will be given before the start of “Ghost Story.” One is titled “1-800,” about a bank computer with attitude, and the other is titled “A Fair Ride.”
This is the 88th season for the Ilion Little Theatre Club. Other performances this season included “Harvey,” “Weekend Comedy” and “Arsenic and Old Lace,” which was also directed by Malavasic.
