Salisbury woman killed in ATV accident

A Herkimer County woman was killed in an all-terrain vehicle accident Friday night, state police said.

Leah Marie Holtz, 26, was pronounced dead at the scene on Bingham Mill Road after the operator, James Siver, 32, of Salisbury, was traveling south at a high rate of speed and then struck a tree, police said.

Both were ejected from the four-wheeler.

Siver, who suffered injuries to both legs and his pelvis, was airlifted by Lifenet helicopter to St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Utica.

The accident remains under investigation, police said.

Salisbury firefighters and Herkimer County coroner Brian Roberts also responded to the scene.
