SECTION II CLASS CC CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT
Canajoharie/Fort Plain sent two lightweights to the finals Saturday and finished 11th in the team competition at Section II’s Class CC tournament at Schalmont High School.
Hudson Falls had two champions and three other finalists en route to winning the team championship. Cobleskill-Richmondville’s 183 1/2 points were second to Hudson Falls’ 203.
Tim Hazzard and Jon Payack reached the finals at 99 and 106 pounds, respectively, for Canajoharie/Fort Plain and both were pinned in the first period. Hazzard went down in 43 seconds against Hudson Falls’ Gage Latterell. Payack was pinned by Gideon Jardine from Hadley-Luzerne/Lake George seven seconds into his title bout.
Gordon Trahan placed fourth at 126 pounds for Canajoharie/Fort Plain. He reached the consolation final and lost a 4-2 decision to Cobleskill-Richmondville’s A.J. Fletcher.
The top four finishers from each weight class advance to compete in Section II’s Division II tournament at the Glens Falls Civic Center next weekend.
