The Herkimer Magicians went back and forth with Mohawk for five games Thursday and defeated the Mohicans 3-2.
The 25-23, 18-25, 25-19, 21-25, 25-23 victory pulled Herkimer even with Mohawk at 3-5 in the Center State Conference’s final Division II standings.
Caitlin Roorda had 10 kills, two aces and eight digs for Herkimer (6-10, 3-5 CSC-II); Jami Peters had 11 assists, an ace and seven digs; Natalie Schrader had five kills, two aces and three digs; and Emily Guzewich had five kills, two aces and six digs.
Noel Newkirk had five aces, six kills, three blocks, seven assists and two digs for Mohawk (5-11, 3-5 CSC-II); Stephanie Hurteau had 32 digs and four kills; Megan Connor had three kills and two blocks; and Marisa Holden had three kills.
Herkimer is entered in Dolgeville’s annual Finale Tournament Saturday.
