MOHAWK, N.Y. — John LeClair scored 11 points in the fourth quarter as Mohawk’s Mohicans overtook Dolgeville for a 58-49 victory Saturday.
Dolgeville outscored Mohawk 17-11 in the first quarter and had led for most of the game. The score was 40-38 in the Blue Devils’ favor entering the final period but Dolgeville went almost five minutes without scoring to end the game.
“We just fell apart in the fourth quarter,” Dolgeville coach Brian Ellis said following his team’s third consecutive defeat. “LeClair got loose and they got some fast break baskets.”
LeClair led Mohawk (9-1, 4-0 CSC-I) with 26 points and added nine rebounds and three steals for good measure. Jim Traglia added 16 points and Mac Werenczak had eight rebounds.
Clay Ardoin had 11 points and 13 rebounds for Dolgeville (3-4, 0-2 CSC-I). The Blue Devils attempted 26 three-point shots and missed all but three.
The junior varsity Mohicans were also victorious.
The Blue Devils have a home game Monday against Ilion. Mohawk plays at Herkimer Monday; both Mohawk and Herkimer are unbeaten in league play.

MT. MARKHAM 60, LITTLE FALLS 43
HERKIMER, N.Y. — The Little Falls Mounties held Josh Pugh in check in the scoring column Saturday but Pugh and his Mt. Markham teammates still found enough offense to win 60-43 at Herkimer County Community College.
“We wanted to take Pugh away and make other people hurt us,” Little Falls coach Brian Dunn said. “We held him to probably his lowest point total of the season but he had a ton of assists.”
Pugh, who scored 23 points in a 50-40 Mt. Markham victory when the team met in December, had only 13 Saturday but filled the void with team-highs of eight assists and 18 rebounds. Tyler Mattox stepped up to score 15 points for the unbeaten Mustangs (9-0) and Rick Spicer added 12.
Andrew Gorinshek scored 11 points and Dylan Hysack had 10 for Little Falls (2-8) which shot 13-for-52 from inside the three-point arc and 3-for-15 from beyond.
The Mounties are home Monday for a game against Adirondack.

HERKIMER, N.Y. — Jared Suderley scored 27 points and grabbed 20 rebounds for West Canada Valley Saturday in the Indians’ 75-63 win over the Herkimer Magicians.
Playing just his fourth game of the season after suffering a knee injury, Suderley set career-highs for both points and rebounds at Herkimer County Community College. The junior shot 10-for-12 at the foul line and West Canada Valley went 23-for-31 for an 18-point scoring advantage at the charity stripe.
Anthony Ambrose added 18 points and eight rebounds for West Canada Valley (6-2) while Zach Lyga chipped in with 12 points.
J.J. Crandall had 26 points to lead Herkimer (3-5). Mike Fahy added 12 points and Don Coleman scored 10.
West Canada Valley takes on Westmoreland at home Monday while Herkimer is home for a game against Mohawk.

HERKIMER, N.Y. — The Mohawk Valley Christian Academy Eagles ran their winning streak to five games Saturday with a 42-29 victory over the Lowville Hawks.
Mike Gorman blocked 10 shots for the Eagles (5-2), including six in the first half when Mohawk Valley Christian held Patrick Harney, Lowville’s top scorer, without a field goal.
Gorman scored 11 of his team-high 15 points in the second quarter and the Eagles led 24-13 at halftime.
Freshman Calder Roggie came off the bench for Lowville and hit two three-pointers in the third quarter to help his team climb back within two points. Jack Krop scored off an offensive rebound early in the final period to tie the game at 29 but the Hawks (3-3) would not score again while Mohawk Valley Christian closed the game with a 13-0 run over the final six minutes.
Hector Torres hit two three-pointers and scored eight of his 12 points during the Eagles’ final run.
Gorman finished the game with a triple-double, grabbing 14 rebounds to go with his 15 points and 10 blocked shots. Brett Putnam added seven points and Jack Vandenabeele had seven rebounds and four assists.
Roggie was the high scorer for Lowville with eight points. Harney and Krop each scored six.
The Eagles take on Holy Cross Academy Tuesday at Herkimer County Community College.

HERKIMER, N.Y. — The Adirondack Wildcats jumped ahead by 10 points in the first quarter Saturday and defeated the winless Sauquoit Valley Indians 57-31 at Herkimer County Community College.
The Wildcats (6-3) led by 11 points at halftime then limited Sauquoit Valley to a total of 10 in the second half.
Mike Conley scored 14 points to lead Adirondack, Nick Winters had 12 and Marty Candee chipped in with nine. Winters also had seven steals.
Jason Bentley had eight points to lead Sauquoit Valley (0-7).
The Wildcats play at Little Falls Monday.

Cenicola scored 29 points, Broedel had 23 and each hit four of the team’s 10 three-pointers at Herkimer County Community College. John Schell added eight points for the Emerald Knights (6-2).
Edgardo Colon was the high scorer for New York Mills (6-3) with 10 points. Fred Russ added nine.
