MASSACHUSETTS COLLEGE OF LIBERAL ARTS 72, WESTFIELD STATE UNIVERSITY 70

Alie Dobrovolc narrowly missed a triple-double Tuesday when she helped the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts Trailblazers squeezed by Westfield State University’s Owls for a 72-70 victory on the road.

The Trailblazers (12-10, 5-4 MASCAC) trailed 61-57 with 3 1/2 minutes left in the game before Jen Wehner scored seven straight points and gave the visitors the lead.

Dobrovolc, a senior from Little Falls, scored 19 points, grabbed 13 rebounds and handed out nine assists in the win. Wehner, her classmate from Cooperstown, added 21 points and 13 rebounds.

Jen Ashton scored 20 points for Westfield State (11-12, 4-6 MASCAC).

Dobrovolc now has 996 points at Massachusetts College. She leads the Trailblazers with an average of 17.0 points per game this season and ranks second at 8.2 rebounds per game. She is also first on the team in assists (84) and third in steals (31).

The Trailblazers play at home Saturday afternoon against Framingham State University. Game time is 1 p.m.
