ST. JOHNSVILLE, N.Y. — A familiar foe awaits the St. Johnsville/Oppenheim-Ephratah Hawks when they make their Class C debut in the Section II playoffs Saturday.

The combined squad is seeded third and has the home field for a 1 p.m. match against sixth-seeded Fort Plain, a team the Hawks have already beaten twice this fall. St. Johnsville/Oppenheim-Ephratah was a 3-2 winner both times against the Hilltoppers in September; the teams missed each other at Fort Plain’s Suburban Energy Products Tournament at the start of the season.

A site has yet to be announced for the match which will likely be played at either Soldiers and Sailors Park in St. Johnsville or Ed’s Field in Oppenheim.

Saturday’s winner advances to semifinal play Nov. 4 at Broadalbin-Perth High School against either Waterford-Halfmoon, the No. 2 seed, or the winner of Thursday’s match between Greenwich and Hadley-Luzerne.

The Class C championship match is Nov. 6 at Broadalbin-Perth. Middleburgh is the No. 1 seed.

On the boys’ side, Fort Plain drew the fourth seed and plays at home Friday at 3 p.m. against Middleburgh. Semifinal play is Nov. 3 in Johnstown and the finals are set for Nov. 7 in Colonie.
