UTICA, N.Y. — Charles H. Adrean Post 625 tuned up for its annual Blue and Gold International Tournament Tuesday with a 3-1 win over Ilion Post 920.
Adrean Post managed only three hits in its rematch with Ilion Post — Ilion Post was a 4-3 winner at home June 20 — but won behind five shutout innings from Collier Maddox.
Adrean Post manufactured a run in the first inning and added two more on two-out, two-run single by Mike Hill in the fourth.
Ilion Post (3-9) got its run in the top of the seventh when Bill LeClair led off with a single and came around to score on a hit by Jim Traglia.
The Blue and Gold Tournament begins Thursday with 12 teams participating.
Ilion Post is in Cooperstown Wednesday for a game against Post 295 of Gaithersburg, Md., which has traveled north to compete in the Adrean Post tournament.
