“This is a great honor for Jared and the \Hartwick basketball program to be named a preseason all-American,” coach Todd McGuinness said. “He has worked hard to improve his game and so far has had two great years in a Hartwick uniform.”

Suderley was named the Empire 8 player of the year and a first-team league all-star last season. he was named a d3hoops.com and NABC coaches’ division all-American. In addition, he was a NABC East Region all-district, d3hoops.com all-east region and ECAC Upstate first-team pick.

“We have high expectations for Jared this year and we are hoping he can take his game and our team to the next level,” McGuinness added.

Hartwick is coming of a record-tying 23-win season in 2011-12. The Hawks begin the new season Friday when they face SUNY-Purchase in the Regis College Tip-Off Tournament.

Joining Suderley in the Hawks’ lineup this winter are junior guards Christian Laputka, Mike Geisser and Anthony Keane. The other forward is Kyle Bradley, a junior transfer from Division II Mansfield University.
