Jason Nastovski ran for 101 yards and two touchdowns Saturday and the Dolgeville Blue Devils bounced back from their first loss with a 29-8 Homecoming victory over New York Mills’ winless Marauders.
Nastovski ran eight yards for a touchdown in the first quarter and had the conversion following Reid Johnson’s touchdown pass to Johann Doerrer just before halftime. The Blue Devils (5-1, 3-1 D East) led 14-0 at the break.
New York Mills (0-6, 0-4 D East), which had only one first down in the first half and turned the ball over twice, got a Zachary Griffith-to-Cody Mariotti touchdown pass in the third quarter and trailed by six points entering the fourth.
Nastovski’s second touchdown run and two-point conversion gave Dolgeville a 14-point lead and Kasey Foster added a touchdown run.
Dolgeville’s defense held New York Mills to minus-14 yards rushing for the game. The Marauders turned the ball over twice in the first three minutes of the game. Foster recovered a dropped handoff the game’s first play from scrimmage and Andrew Drumm made a diving interception of a Griffith pass on the second New York Mills possession.
Neither team ran a play on Dolgeville’s side of the midfield stripe in the first half.
The Blue Devils travel over Barto Hill Friday to take on Class D East-leading West Canada Valley under temporary lights for the Indians’ Homecoming game. Undefeated West Canada Valley was a 41-13 crossover winner Saturday at Beaver River.
